How they're made
New Zealand wool, shaped by hand in Nepal
Every Whiskers cave starts as New Zealand sheep's wool. Skilled makers in Nepal, many of them women, wet-felt it by hand with warm water, soap and a lot of rolling until it becomes a dense, seamless den.
No plastic shells, no foam inserts. Just wool, water and hours of craft, from a fair trade workshop we're proud to work with.

Good questions
What size cat will a cave fit?
Our Classic Caves suit most cats up to about 8 kg. They're roughly 45–50 cm wide and 28–32 cm tall, with an opening of around 18–20 cm: big enough to wander in, snug enough to feel safe. Got a big lad? Choose the Large size.
How do I clean it?
Wool is naturally good at shrugging off dirt. Give it a shake outside, spot clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then reshape and let it air dry. Please don't machine wash or tumble dry.
Do you ship across New Zealand?
Yes, from Whakatāne to everywhere in Aotearoa, rural addresses included. Shipping is free on orders over $99, and we'll email you tracking as soon as your parcel is on its way.
What if my cat ignores it?
It happens now and then. Try popping a favourite blanket or a sprinkle of catnip inside. If it's still a no after a couple of weeks, you've got 30 days to send it back in clean, unused condition.
Is every cave exactly the same?
No, and that's the charm. Each one is wet-felted by hand, so expect small differences in shape, stripe placement and colour.
Can I fold it for travel?
Yes. Press it flat for the car, the bach or storage, then push it back into shape. It springs back after a day or two.
